QUALIFICATIONS : 100 Mile only
Qualifying for The Monster: The 100 mile distance is not an easy race and as such, we have a qualification standard for the race. All entrants will be required to have completed, at minimum, a 50 mile race or greater before race day. Do not be fooled though, this race course will absolutely make you earn every mile you traverse. Come prepared, know your course, and tackle the Monster this September.
REGISTRATION
Registration for the 100 Miler & 42K opens in the beginning of December. Online registration is available through Ultrasignup.com and we have a mail-in entry if you prefer. There will be a 250 (total) runner limit.

The Highline Trail has a deep history in our time on the Rim Country. Before The Monster was established, trips up for Zane Grey 50 miler were a yearly staple. In the last few years, the Highline has underwent impressive renovations in an effort to make the national historic trail more accessible to people and less likely to be destroyed by yearly monsoons. The current Monster course still uses around 20 miles of this now 58 mile point to point trail. By partnering with the National Forest Foundation who is leading the charge on the trail renovations, we hope to help spread the word, provide the needed financial commitment and ensure this incredible trail is available for generations to come.
Below is additional information on this massive effort, spoken from the National Forest Foundation:
The Highline Trail traverses over 50 miles through canyons and drainages atop the Mogollon Rim. In many cases, these crossings occur on the fall line of steep slopes, creating erosion and ruts where several major re-routes are required to create a more sustainable tread. Trail needs are significant, and we need your support to complete the first 17 miles of maintenance, reroutes and rehabilitation in Phase 1 – from Washington Park to Pine Trailheads.
Together with our partners and with your donation, access will be enhanced, safety improved, watersheds improved, and the beauty of the Highline Trail can be preserved for present and future generations!
Make a donation to support the Highline Trail Restoration Initiative today.
