Trail Work/Volunteer Requirements
All entrants to the Mogollon Monster 100 Endurance Race are required to perform 8 hours of volunteer work at the MOG100, another ultra event or other event approved by the Mogollon Monster 100 race director. (Other work usually accepted includes trail maintenance for any length official race or state or national trail system as well as work at a series of shorter races, when ultras are not available. Also generally accepted is work with youth running programs or adaptive sports programs.) Trail work needs only to be completed before the race date of the year entered. So if you are entered for the 2015 race, you'll need to complete this 8 hour requirement by September 26th, 2014.
Locals will have multiple opportunities to complete this requirement with trail work dates throughout the summer on the Monster course. Any 8 hour volunteer shift for an ultra is accepted as well. Please check out www.aravaiparunning.com for their events throughout 2015, they have many events so opportunities to help out are plentiful. Also, if you are in Arizona and not running the Zane Grey 50M in April there are several opportunities with that race to fulfill 8 hours between trail work before the race as well as volunteering for that race itself. Given that the Zane Grey covers some of the same terrain and shares three aid station locations it's an invaluable experience in getting to know the area for the Mogollon Monster. Check out www.zanegrey50.com.
You do NOT have to complete this 8 hour requirement in Arizona. Please send me the event name, date it was completed and your name. This can come directly from yourself or the race director or event coordinator you worked with.
